What drew you to your career?

It sounds corny, but I’ve always been driven by this innate need to make the world around me a better place.

What is your favourite part of your role?

Now I enjoy being in a position to have the time to draw on my background to make a (hopefully) meaningful contribution to many of the key issues the CPM group is dealing with.

What does unlocking hidden value mean to you?

“Hidden value” for me is that elusive realisation that we’ve struck an idea/concept/service that makes abundant sense NOW, but we hadn’t recognised it until now; it’s that “why didn’t we think of that earlier?” moment.

What is your proudest achievement, greatest learning?

I have a few career highlights – it’s difficult to select one – so I’ll say:

  • Being appointed by the Queensland Government as Ipswich City Council Administrator (2018)
  • Leading the reform of the state’s land use planning and development assessment system to create the Planning Act 2016
  • Driving the establishment of Stadiums Queensland (2002)
  • Project Director of the Gabba redevelopment in time for the Sydney 2000 Olympics

The greatest learning from these highlights? That – once empowered and enabled – a dedicated team can achieve “the impossible”.

What are your passions, hobbies, and interests outside of work?

Family, friends, average standard golf, lower standard piano, travel (to open your eyes and mind) and enjoying the Granite Belt bushland (and red wines).
